TRAINING WORKSHOPS

As a Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, I currently run workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate university students on all aspects of the writing process, including preparing for writing at university; planning and structuring writing tasks; and how to write a good essay.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

January 2015 – present: Teacher of English to migrants and refugees on a voluntary basis at the Migrant English Project in Brighton

October 2013 – present: Running study-skills workshops on all aspects of the writing process for undergraduates and postgraduates at the Careers and Employability Centre, University of Sussex

October 2013 to May 2014: Writing Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund at Southampton University,  helping students to improve their writing skills

October 2013 to May 2014: Writing Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund at Southampton University,  helping students to improve their writing skills

May 2012 to April 2013: Advisory Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund, mentoring new Writing Fellows posted to universities to help students to improve their writing skills

Sept 2011 to May 2012: Writing Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund at Chichester University,  helping students to improve their writing skills

2011: Cover teacher for the Friends Centre, Brighton, offering English classes from Entry 1 to Level 2

2008 to 2010: Writing Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund at Sussex University Around one-third of the students were international students who required assistance with their English language skills as well as their writing.

2006 to 2008: Teacher of English to migrants and refugees on a voluntary basis at the Migrant English Project in Brighton

2000-01: Teaching at CLIC International House in Seville teaching English to adults and children; cover teacher of French; one-to-classes

QUALIFICATIONS

I have a Trinity Certificate in TESOL (Distinction), awarded in 2000.
In 2014 I qualified as a Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, accredited by the Royal Literary Fund.
